Riviera Resort holds a cruiser yacht race every year.There is the annual Trans-Sagami Yacht Race in the summer, the Riviera Yacht Race in the fall called the "Wakadaisho Cup," and the Shonan Race, which is held once a month and competes throughout the year.
The Shonan Race is divided into classes so that everyone from racers to beginners can participate, and there is a way to enjoy the race course that changes depending on the month and the fun of experiencing the ocean in each season. In the spring, you can see the mountain cherry blossoms along the coast, feel the hot sun in the summer, feel the refreshing sea breeze in the fall, and enjoy the clear scenery in the winter. It's also fun to compete with fellow racers you meet every month on the water to see how well you did on the day. In 2022, a total of 70 boats participated, and an awards ceremony was held in December for the first time in three years.
The 2023 Shonan Race has been registered with Sailors for the Sea's "Clean Regatta Program," which aims to be a race that is considerate of the marine natural environment. This includes sailing events from around the world, including the America's Cup.
On June 11th, “LOVE OCEANClean Regatta 2023” will be held for the first time as a collaborative project to tackle the marine natural environment.
Because Riviera operates Asia's first Blue Flag-certified marina, Riviera Zushi Marina, we will work with you to hold meaningful races while being environmentally friendly. Beginners or mid-year participants are welcome to participate in this easy and fun monthly race.
