January 2022 Issue

On the day I was training on the classic yacht "Synara", I woke up early in the morning and
After calming down, I headed to Riviera Seabornia Marina in Miura.
Yamamoto, the store manager at Riviera Tokyo, started from scratch, not knowing anything about ships.
I am learning that if you manage your time and work hard, you will find a path.
A ticket to an unknown world suddenly given to me. Days of struggle full of things I don't understand.
“I was really surprised when I heard about the Sinara Crew.I have been on ships for 20 years since I joined Riviera, but I had never even imagined being in the position of operating a ship. did"
Yuji Yamamoto, who reached the turning age of 40 this year, is spending exciting days as the store manager of Riviera Tokyo in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and as a new crew member of "Cinara" from September 2021. .
``I still vividly remember the shock I felt when I was approached directly by the chairman. At the same time, I was nervous about taking on such a reckless challenge, but at the same time, I wanted to improve myself and take on the challenge, so I responded on the spot.'' Don't choose the path you can take, choose the path you want to go.'' This is a phrase I received from my teacher in elementary school, and it helps me when I have to make a decision or get lost. At the same time, I felt that there was a world that only those who took on challenges could gain from seeing Watanabe, the chairman, who continues to take on challenges. That's why I chose to take on challenges so that I wouldn't have any regrets. I am in the process of learning from Gamushara so that I can keep up with the chairman and his senior crew, who are dedicated to yachting and full of passion and romance. Also, I am working as a store manager while also dedicating my time to fulfill my role as a crew member. When I reconsidered how to use it...my challenge has just begun."
What “Synara” taught me
Pride and humanity
Yamamoto was told by chairman Watanabe, ``I want you to get a feel for the stage Riviera is aiming for.'' "One of Riviera's most cherished philosophies is ``polishing,'' which involves polishing things, polishing people, and polishing the spirit.Only the Shinara crew is allowed to board the private ship Shinara.Boarding time I feel that because the crew pours their heart and soul into refining the Sinara over a period of time that is tens of times longer than the previous one, the excitement and excitement when riding it will be hundreds of times greater. By becoming a member of the Shinara Crew, I have met and learned from people and things I have never met before, and I am amazed at how my horizons have broadened and my state of mind has changed. We work together with the same goals and are united in our hearts. These are the days when I once again realize the true bond that can be gained by being on the same boat.I am truly grateful to the deep sea and the people who love it, who have welcomed me even though I am a sea novice. ``Have a heart of humility and gratitude, hone your human skills, and approach your work with pride and passion.I don't know if this is the correct answer, but I think this is one of the things that Riviera people strive for.''
Days when you realize the beauty and difficulty of nature
Normally, my work focuses on customer service and management in the city (Ikebukuro), but when I spend time as a crew member, I fully experience Riviera's corporate philosophy of ``living to the fullest with nature.'' Every week I go to Shinara Training, I become captivated by the beautiful nature of Sagami Bay, and at the same time, I am keenly aware of the difficulty of operating a yacht against nature, where conditions change every minute and second. I feel so fulfilled in a way I have never felt before.”
For Yamamoto, the sight of Shinara moving forward is ``hope'' itself. I want to keep trying new things like Shinara. Yamamoto's dreams and challenges have only just begun.
