Trans-Sagami Yacht Race 2022

Sagami Bay 48 mile cross yacht race
Boats belonging to Riviera Seabornia Marina won all classes!

The "Trans-Sagami Yacht Race 48" was held on August 2022, a 7-mile race across Sagami Bay from the coast of Shimoda, Shizuoka Prefecture to the mouth of Koajiro Bay in Miura, Kanagawa Prefecture. Although it was canceled in 2021 due to the corona vortex, it will be held for the first time in two years and the 2th time in response to strong requests from yacht racers.
The 6th Shizuoka Prefectural Governor's Cup Irozaki Race will be held at the same time on August 15th, the day before, starting off the coast of Shimoda and rounding the mark off Irozaki. The 45 race boats gathered in Shimoda enjoyed racing amidst the spectacular natural scenery of the Izu Peninsula.
On the day of the "Trans-Sagami Yacht Race" on August 7th, the sky was cloudy from the morning, but the sight of 45 cruiser yachts gathered on the race surface was spectacular, and attracted the attention of the nearby beach.
The race will start off the coast of Shimoda at 10 o'clock on time, and everyone will catch the wind and start running. A unique feature of the "Trans-Sagami Yacht Race" is that the choice of course greatly influences the outcome. The boat will be divided into two boats, one heading towards Oshima, which is located at the halfway point, and another boat choosing to stay closer to the coast, and will sail toward the Miura Peninsula. The yacht sailing against the backdrop of the sunset just before the goal was as beautiful as a painting.
This race will be competed in four classes. This year, boats belonging to Riviera Seabornia Marina won in all classes. It is often referred to as the ``sacred place for yachtsmen,'' and this race was proof of that.
In autumn, the annual Riviera Zushi Marina Yacht Race "Wakadaisho Cup" will be held on October 9th. The Wakadaisho Cup is a yacht race that can be enjoyed not only by racers but also by cruising yachts. Would you like to enjoy the race together in the refreshing autumn Sagami Bay? Please feel free to join us.
