38th Riviera Zushi Marina Yacht Race

October 25th Sun. The Riviera Zushi Marina Yacht Race "Wakadaisho Cup" was held in Sagami Bay on a crisp autumn day.
This yacht race representing Riviera Zushi Marina was held for the 38th time. This year will be the 6th time, with Yuzo Kayama as honorary executive chairman. The cruiser yacht race has three classes: the Happiness class (a class that sails without using spin), the OPEN class, and the IRC class, which is registered with the IRC Association and has a rating certificate, and is held every year as a tournament that can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to racers. A very popular race that welcomes participating boats. The dinghy yacht race, in which a variety of boat types can participate, is also a race with many fans.
On the day of the event, we were blessed with wonderful weather that allowed us to see Mt. Fuji, and 61 cruiser yachts and 37 dinghy yachts entered and enjoyed the race.
In the Cruiser Yacht Race, the wind was light at the start, but off the coast of Enoshima, the wind died down, resulting in a shortened course and the finish on the Hattoiwa side. For the dinghy yacht race, we were able to wait for good winds to hold one race off the coast of Riviera Zushi Marina.
In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the awards ceremony and special live performance for young generals were not held at this year's tournament, but instead the cruiser yacht race and dinghy yacht race were held, allowing the participants to fully enjoy the autumn Sagami Bay.
