Beach clean

In the monthly beach cleanup activities carried out by employee volunteers at Zaimokuza Beach near Riviera Zushi Marina, we place particular emphasis on collecting microplastics. Local people who support this activity may also participate together.

December 2020, 17. We, the Riviera Group, have opened another new door.
The idea was to establish a non-profit organization in order to further strengthen the social activities that we have been involved in thus far.
Our activities are also committed to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) adopted by the United Nations.
With the establishment of the new corporation, we will continue to take a wide range of steps toward a more reliable "creation of the future."

More than 15 years of activity
as a new step

The Riviera Group's sustainable activities "Riviera Future Creation Project" started in 2006. For us, who operate our business with the corporate philosophy of "living a fulfilling life in harmony with nature," preserving our beautiful environment and passing it on to the next generation is an urgent matter for creating a sustainable future. It was a challenge. All employees are working on three axes: the environment, education, and health/medical care.

Strengthening cooperation with companies

At the same time, we resonated with the lofty ideals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in September 2015, and felt an affinity with the philosophy of the Riviera Future Creation Project. expressed commitment to. Since then, we have promoted collaborative work with various domestic and international related organizations, government agencies, and people and groups with a unified vision. In order to further expand these efforts and build a strong collaborative network, we began to feel the need for a socially recognized non-profit organization (NPO).
Therefore, we began preparations to establish an NPO corporation. Due to obstacles along the way due to the global pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, the establishment of the NPO was realized in December 2020, six months later than originally planned. However, just before that, in November, we were invited to give a lecture at EVEX (EV/PHV Popularization Technology Exhibition) held at Tokyo Big Sight, and Riviera's efforts from people related to this field were encouraged. I could also feel their passionate gaze on me.

Create new collaborations
Acting as a “hub”

With the establishment of a new non-profit organization, it will be easier than ever to collaborate with various organizations and companies. It should also play the role of a HUB that connects people and organizations with a strong desire for sustainability.
Please look forward to the activities of new NPOs in response to the SDGs.

Introducing some of our initiatives

Recycling-type farming

Recycling-type farming

We were among the first in Japan to adopt recycling-oriented farming methods, contributing to reducing food loss. The vegetable scraps from the restaurant's kitchen are composted at the recycling center, which is then used by employees to grow vegetables in our own vegetable garden, which is then served at the restaurant. The entire cycle is completed within Riviera Zushi Marina.

V2B and workplace charging

V2B

Malibu Hotel is the first hotel in Japan to introduce an EV charging/discharging system "V2B" and "workplace charging", and is environmentally friendly by combining "always" and "what if". We also aim to be a hotel that is considerate even during power outages. It also performs peak cut management using electricity from EVs and contributes to CO2 reduction.

Arts and culture promotion activities

Arts and culture promotion activities

We have been focusing on activities to popularize music and other artistic culture, such as providing a place to enjoy classical music in order to expand its horizons. Riviera, which has been rooted in the city of Ikebukuro for over 70 years, is also promoting Toshima City's "Art and Culture City Toshima", which has been selected as an "SDGs Future City" and "Municipal SDGs Model Project".

Activities of Japan Maritime Academy

At the Japan Marine Academy, we have hosted approximately 6,000 elementary and junior high school students in a program for young people aimed at preserving the beautiful ocean and passing it on to the next generation, as well as working to popularize marine sports. . This program, which allows children to learn how to play safely in the sea and at the same time develop a sense of solidarity and cooperation with their peers, has been well-received by parents as it allows them to experience their children's growth along with them.
