It became an “invitation match”
Increased prize pool and rating
The Riviera Country Club (RCC) will once again host an official USPGA Tour event this season. 2020 days from February 13th to 16th, 4. From this time on, the name of the tournament will be changed to "invitational match", and the total prize money and tournament rating will also be increased.
The new name is "Genesis Invitational." Only 120 invited players will be able to participate. The total prize money is $190 million (approximately 930 billion yen), which is $10 million more than the previous Genesis Open. The winner will receive $167 in prize money and three years of seeding, one more year than usual. The ranking is the same as ``The Memorial Tournament'' hosted by Jack Nicklaus, which is considered a prelude to the U.S. Open Championship, and ``Arnold Palmer Invitational.''
Since its opening in 1926, the RCC has been the setting for the PGA Tour. LA Open, Nissan Open, Northern Trust Open, and Genesis Open. With each successive tournament, new legends are born and history is written. Tiger Woods, who will serve as the host of the tournament as before, said, ``It's a great honor.'' The Genesis Invitational also aims to contribute to philanthropy and share technology, with total donations expected to reach up to $200 million.
Tournaments where top athletes compete are valuable training opportunities for those involved in competition management and course management. During the period, interested parties from all over the world will gather at the RCC and actively exchange information. Regarding course maintenance in particular, we are grateful to the approximately 40 outstanding professionals who volunteer from all over the world to support the tournament every year in order to pass down RCC's advanced technology. Ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, we will also welcome personnel from Kasumigaseki CC. The Riviera Future Creation Project, launched by the Riviera Group in 2006, provides support for a variety of industrial fields, and accepting human resources at RCC is part of this effort. The RCC sincerely prays for the success of the Olympic Games, which will be held in Japan, which we have a deep connection with, and is doing our best.
In October 2019, at the ZOZO Championship (Narashino CC), Woods thrilled the world with his 10nd victory, tied for the most in the PGA. This August, Kasumigaseki CC will be the stage for the Olympic golf competition. As topics continue to draw the world's attention to Japan, Japanese course management techniques are also attracting attention.
The PGA Tour, held every February, is an opportunity to share the know-how that Riviera has refined to the world. Riviera will continue to engage in activities that deeply contribute to the golf world.
