At Riviera Zushi Marina
A large gathering of cute guests
On March 24th Sun, blessed with bright spring sunshine, the poolside special venue at Riviera Zushi Marina was crowded with guests with a slightly different atmosphere than usual.
In this place, where yachting and marine sports enthusiasts usually gather, the people who gathered on this day were pet owners with their proud dogs and cats, as well as people looking for homeless dogs and cats to become new families. To all the pre-owners.
The ``2nd Zushi Marina Pet Festa'' held on this day was held to celebrate the operation of the Kanagawa Prefectural Animal Welfare Center (Hiratsuka City), which has been undergoing reconstruction work with the philosophy of ``from zero culling to beyond.'' Charity events to support. We supported the rebuilding plan, in which part of the cost would be covered by donations (construction funds) from a wide range of people, and planned and implemented it as a way to help by leveraging Riviera's business characteristics. The event was held for the first time in 2017 when the fund was launched, and this is the second time the event has been held as the center is about to open. Approximately 2 pet lovers and over 1300 dogs and cats visited.

All dogs seem to have fun even if it's their first time on board.

Ukulele picnic that connects pets, people, and participants

A day in touch with the loving KONISHIKI

A poolside pet event is unheard of...? Maybe, but this is also typical of Riviera.

Pets arrived in style.
The trimming made it even cuter.
Pet-friendly cruise & former ozeki sumo wrestler
Konishiki's Charity Chanko
At the festival, there will be a high-level "training class" by the Japan Therapy Dog Association, experiential events such as "quick trimming" and "nail clipping", "adoption event", time to interact with animals, and display and sale of carefully selected pet food and pet items. ...and a lot. Cruising with your pet dog or cat is a special project unique to Riviera.
In addition, the artists participating in the world's largest ukulele event, ``Ukulele Picnic,'' which was born in Zushi Marina and is celebrating its 20th anniversary, also sympathized with the festival's purpose and came to the event. One of them, former ozeki KONISHIKI, not only performed live, but also gave out authentic chanko nabe that he cooked himself for charity.
Coexistence with pets
Important themes for “creating the future”
One visitor pointed to his beloved dog in his arms and said, ``Actually, this dog was at the rescue center, too.'' If the center had continued to be a place to dispose of pets in the name of protection, there would have been no future between this owner and his pet. ``A society where no pets die due to human circumstances'' is also the future we should create for the children who will lead the next generation. This is also one of the themes worthy of being addressed by the Riviera Future Creation Project.

Cleaning of Ikebukuro west exit downtown area.
We were able to pick up so much trash in just one hour of activity.

It's a lot of fun because we all do it together.
The number of local participants has been increasing every month.

Truly simple work

Plastic pieces mixed in with the gravel! !
Is it simply amazing?
Environmental beautification activities by employee volunteers

"Riviera Beach Clean"
At Riviera Group, approximately 3 employee volunteers go to Zaimokuza beach once a month (on the 50rd Thursday of every month) to carry out a ``beach clean activity'' where they pick up trash, with a particular focus on collecting microplastics.
Mr. Yuzo Kayama
“Wakadaisho Beach Clean”
The annual "Wakasho Cup Yacht Race" will be held at the Riviera Zushi Marina on October 13th Sun, with singer and actor Yuzo Kayama, also known as "Wakasho", serving as the honorary chairman of the special event. This year, we are also planning a special ``Wakadaisho Beach Clean'' on the Yuigahama Beach in Kamakura on race day with Yuzo Kayama.
In addition, in January of this year, Mr. Kayama established the ``Sea Love Fund Marine Environment Project'' together with the Japan Sailing Federation, a public interest incorporated foundation. Riviera is also an official partner of the Japan Sailing Federation and Hinomaru Sailors. At Riviera, we also want to cooperate with the Japan Sailing Federation and Mr. Kayama's activities to protect the ocean and convey its charm to the children who will lead the next generation. Our collaboration with the same aspirations will continue even further.
It was actually difficult
Picking up trash in Ikebukuro, the city center
We are also cleaning up downtown areas in the Ikebukuro West Exit area of Tokyo, the ``place where Riviera was founded''. In fact, in Ikebukuro, where there is constant foot traffic throughout the day, waste collection efforts that require the mobilization of large numbers of people have been idle for a long time due to concerns that they would actually be a nuisance to nearby traffic. However, with the understanding of everyone in the area, including the adjacent Rikkyo-dori shopping street, full-scale activities began in 2019. Similar to our activities in Sagami Bay, there are local volunteers who participate in our activities in Ikebukuro as well.
inseparable from life
So keep going steadily
Sagami Bay has long been known for its high water quality and clean beaches. However, if you put a colander into the sea surface and dredge, you will find small plastic containers mixed in with the sand. Even in Ikebukuro, collection bags quickly fill up with roadside plants and cigarette butts hidden under vending machines.
No matter how careful we are, people's lives and garbage are inseparable. That is why Riviera will continue this steady activity.
