A hot race will be held in Sagami Bay this summer as well.
"Trans-Sagami Yacht Rece 2019" is an annual yacht race that crosses Sagami Bay. This year marks the 15th year of the event, with 44 boats participating, including some participating for the first time.
The day before, the ``14th Shizuoka Prefecture Governor's Cup Irozaki Race'' was held from Shimoda offshore to Irozaki and back, and the eve event, which the participating boats were looking forward to, was a great success with over 300 yachters.
On the day of the race, Shimoda was blessed with blue seas, blue skies, and sunny summer skies, and the start scene of the 44 cruiser yachts gathered off the coast of Shimoda was spectacular and must have impressed local beachgoers.
The Trans-Sagami Yacht Race literally crosses Sagami Bay from off the coast of Shimoda to off the coast of Miura's Seabornia, but the outcome is determined by whether you choose a course closer to Oshima or closer to the shore.
This year, ``Kikaze'' belonging to Seabornia Marina completed the race in 5 hours, 47 minutes and 10 seconds, taking home the title of first home. While enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Izu Peninsula, the boats that finished near the end were greeted by the sunset glow of Mt. Fuji off the coast of Seabornia, and all the boats enjoyed the race.
