Riviera Resort Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has agreed to collaborate with Shinanen Cycle Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masato Tanaka) and Shonan Monorail Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture; CEO: Hideo Odo) to operate "HELLO CYCLING," a shared bicycle service that utilizes ICT, in Kamakura, Zushi, and Fujisawa cities in Kanagawa Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as the "Shonan Area"), which is visited by over 3,700 million tourists annually.

The Shonan area receives over 3,700 million tourists a year, but suffers from significant traffic congestion both by car and by train. With the aim of resolving the social issues facing the Shonan area, such as traffic congestion and overtourism, improving the convenience of travel for local residents and tourists, and promoting the dispersion and movement of people around the Shonan area, we have determined that collaboration between Shinanen Cycle, which is promoting borderless business development centered on Tokyo and already operates 500 bicycle-share facilities at approximately 170 locations in Kawasaki and Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, Shonan Monorail, a railway operator connecting Ofuna in Kamakura City and Enoshima in Fujisawa City, and Riviera Resort, a multi-purpose resort operator with facilities such as a marina, restaurants, resort condominiums, and wedding venues, will contribute to resolving the various issues facing the Shonan area from the perspective of MaaS, which seamlessly links primary transportation such as trains and cars with travel to destinations such as shrines and temples.

Sinanen Cycle will play a central role in this collaboration, with the service beginning on April 15th with 50 bicycle rental and return stations set up at Shonan Monorail stations, the Riviera Zushi Marina resort complex, and Myoo-in Temple in Kamakura City as a means of transportation for pilgrims. The company will also involve many other stakeholders, including Seven-Eleven convenience stores, shrines and temples, local businesses, and shopping districts, with the aim of expanding the service to 100 locations with 300 bicycles by the end of fiscal 2019, while promoting appropriate use. The service will utilize the "HELLOHELLO CYCLING" bicycle sharing system provided by OpenStreet Inc.
