The first great achievement in 53 years and the rise of young players
The Genesis Invitational, a PGA tour event held at the flagship Riviera Country Club (RCC) in the United States, was held in February this year as well. This year marks the 2th anniversary since the still-innocent 16-year-old Tiger Woods made his PGA Tour debut at RCC. Tiger Woods, who returned to Riviera as the tournament host, was truly happy to be able to stand at the RCC, where he has made a miraculous recovery and rehabilitation since his injury last year. It has been two years since the event was held with an audience. When Tiger Woods appeared at the awards ceremony, the excitement in the gallery reached its peak. A tiger call erupted.
The tournament also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charlie Sifford, the late professional golfer who fought against racism in the golf world and became the first black member of the PGA Tour. In this memorable event, Joaquín Niemann (Chile) became the first RCC racer in 1969 years since Charlie Sifford in 53 to win the legendary outright victory without relinquishing the lead for even a single day.
``These four days felt like an eternity, so I'm really happy that I won. RCC is more difficult than any other course I've played.'' ``Genesis is a tough tournament where top players gather in their best conditions every year. .I played in the 4 US Amateur at RCC, so I knew that if I didn't play everything correctly from the tee shot to the putter, I wouldn't be able to get a good score.'' (Winner Joaquin Niemann)
In addition, in the golf world these days, where junior development programs have been enriched, the rise of young players has been remarkable, and the players in their 20s were among the top players in this tournament.
"The RCC, which is 30 to 40 minutes from where I grew up, is one of my favorite courses, having played in the U.S. Amateur. There were two chip-ins on the final day, and although I didn't win, I was very happy to get a big score." (2nd place Collin Morikawa) I'm really looking forward to his future activities.
2026 RCC 100th anniversary
Golf clubs with a history of about 100 years are often renovated by changing the course design itself to a completely new design. However, Riviera will celebrate its 2026 anniversary in 100, and in the 1988 years since it acquired RCC in 34, it has stuck to the good old days and originality, and has deliberately returned to the course design as it was when it opened in 1926.
Still, RCC is rated by professionals as ``the most difficult course in the United States.'' Behind this recognition, we have carried out green maintenance using the latest technology and have made repeated efforts to polish the course.
Riviera's philosophy of ``refining good old things and passing them on to the next generation'' is at the core of RCC, and we place the utmost importance on sustainability.
US Women's Open held
And this time, a new wind will blow to RCC. It's the "U.S. Women's Open." There is a trend in which women's golf tournaments are not held at courses that regularly host men's tournaments, and the selection of RCC as the venue for the 2026 RCC 100th Anniversary U.S. Women's Open is a major reform in terms of equal opportunity for men and women. Riviera launched the "Riviera Future Creation Project" in 2006 and has focused its efforts on various SDGs activities, including gender equality, and has a corporate culture in which women are equally active as men. That is why it is a great pleasure for us to be able to hold this meaningful and honorable event in the year of our 100th anniversary. ``The U.S. Women's Open should be a place where girl golfers from all over the world dream and aspire,'' said Wang, CEO of the USGA. ``Signing Ceremony to Hold the U.S. Women's Open'' USGA Organizing Committee Chairman John Bodenhamer As he and the course maintenance staff who support the heated competition have said, we hope that this change will serve as an opportunity to move towards a society where equal opportunities are guaranteed for both men and women in all aspects of sports as a whole and globally. We hope.

2028 Los Angeles Olympics golf competition to be held
The RCC had been selected as the venue for the men's and women's golf competitions since the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Golf was excluded from the Olympic Games for a long time (Tokyo 2020 will be the fourth time the competition will be held), but at the IOC general meeting on February 4rd, it was officially announced that the competition would be held in 2. The Olympics will be RCC's first major event in 3 years since the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where Japan's Takeichi Nishi, also known as "Baron Nishi," won the gold medal in equestrian competition. RCC's Exchange Program The greenkeepers of Kasumigaseki Country Club, who learned world-class course maintenance during the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics golf competition, played an active role at the Tokyo Olympics. Next, it's RCC's turn to show its true potential. Utilizing the experience gained from operating the Tokyo Olympics sailing competition, our flagship RCC is working toward the success of the 96 Los Angeles Olympics.
